CLEOPATRA

I know I haven’t been too diligent with my posts lately but I'm getting back into it...so my latest obsession is Cleopatra. I've been reading up on her lately and thought to share this one little interesting health point: Apparently the heavy dark pencil eye-make up favored by Cleopatra, other ancient Egyptians and Arabs today has excellent benefits. The lead salts in the make-up help protect against eye disease. I know you must be thinking lead is supposed to be deadly but little dosages are actually good. The low levels of lead contained in the make-up boost the immune system which kills bacteria and protects the eye from getting infected. So all you ladies out there spending two hours every morning drawing the perfect line with your eyeliner know that it is well worth it - not only does it look fabulous but it acts as a shield against bacteria!
